The celebration is always free, to promote discovering new music and sharing a passion together.

… with friends and family
This event is open to everyone, children are welcome to take part in the festivities.

PROGRAM

BRIGA & ABSINTHE

The two bands are performing together as part of a unique and exceptional artistic residency at the Centre Culturel Francophone de Vancouver.

Briga’s music is a reflection of her fragmented identity. Her songs are half instrumental, half written in French and English, of which all are accompanied by her fervent violin firmly rooted in eastern European and Romani folk sounds learned from the days her father played the piano to put the children to sleep.

She will be on stage as a trio (with violin, bass/accordion & percussion) to perform songs in French, English and Albanian from her fourth CD, which came out in spring 2017 .

The Absinthe's Ensemble was formed in 2003, born of the fortuitous encounter of a violin, a viola and a contrabass. It features Edgar Bridwell on the violin, Martina Smazal on the viola, and Anne Duranceau on the contrabass.
The first time they played together, the three musicians were mesmerized by the warmth and depth of this instrument combination. They decided to explore the possibilities it offered and have been playing together since then.

EADSÉ

Eadsé is the Aboriginal first name of Huron-Wendat singer Anne-Marie Gros-Louis. She is a singer, songwriter and composer from Montreal. She sings with passion and emotion, her voice revealing her sensitivity but also her strength. She started singing and practicing classical piano at the age of 7.
She is continuing her studies in music and singing at UQAM and is currently working on her first solo album for which she received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.
