Hermès Canada is pleased to announce plans for the arrival of the “Hermès at Work” exhibition in Vancouver at Jack Poole Plaza from September 21-25, open from 11am-7pm daily. This travelling event brings Hermès craftspeople from the intimacy of their ateliers in France to meet the public and demonstrate their highly skilled craft.

Formerly titled “Festival des Métiers,” this exhibition has been touring since its inauguration in 2011 to 34 global cities (in 18 countries), including Toronto in 2013, hosting over 400,000 visitors worldwide. Vancouver will now host the 35th edition.

Making an Hermès object requires time, materials, tools, talent, emotion, intelligent minds and skillful hands. Behind every finishing touch, there is a starting point. Behind every technical accomplishment, there is a long apprenticeship and ceaseless endeavour. Behind every finely tuned gesture, there is the right tool, a history and a name. Behind the smallest detail, there is a human being, guided by a watchful eye and pride in work well done.

“Hermès at Work” in Vancouver will be complete with new scenography and housed in a custom enclosure designed for Vancouver. Against a west coast backdrop of mountain and ocean, the Coal Harbour setting also offers a nod to their 2016 annual theme, nature at full gallop. The concept, however, remains the same: a conversation between visitors and artisans.
