A1 Discovery

A1 Part 1 - Discovery with Edito

Two classes of 3 hours a week

Are you a complete beginner? This level is for you!
(for once-a-week classes, Part A is a prerequisite for Part B).

In this class, students will learn the basics in French:

  • Spell and count;
  • Introduce themself (greet, name, age, nationality)
  • Give and ask for personal information (name, address, dob, email, phone #);
  • Express their likes and dislikes;
  • Name, ask, and give their place of residence;
  • Talk about their family.


Prerequisite: no prior knowledge of French whatsoever (for once-a-week classes, Part 1A is a prerequisite for Part 1B).

Textbooks: EDITO A1, Unit 0, unit 1 + unit 2.
NEW STUDENTS: For online classes: books to be picked up in our premises (no delivery). For in-person classes: the teacher will give the books on the first day of class.

A1 Part 2 - Discovery with Cosmopolite

Two classes of 3 hours a week

In this class, students will learn how to:

  • Make somebody's acquaintance;
  • Exchange information about accommodations;
  • Express their likes and dislikes;
  • Talk about their families;
  • Characterize somebody;
  • Talk about their passions, their hobbies, their dreams;
  • Talk about their profession;
  • Explain a health problem.

Prerequisite: A1 part 1 or Placement test.
Textbooks: Cosmopolite 1, Lessons 4 to 6 of Unit 2 +  Unit 3.

A1 Part 2 - Discovery with Edito

Two classes of 2 hours a week

In this class, students will learn the basics in French:

  • Describe and identify.
  • Understand a menu in a restaurant, order;
  • Shop for groceries;
  • Give an appreciation;
  • Present and describe a city, a neighborhood;
  • Talk about public transportation;
  • Ask for and give directions;

Prerequisite: A1 Part 1 or Placement test.

Textbooks: EDITO A1, Unit 3 + unit 4.

A1 Part 3 - Discovery with Cosmopolite

Two classes of 3 hours a week

In this class, students will learn how to:

  • Inform themselves about weekends activities, outings;
  • Tell time and indicate a schedule;
  • Talk about their daily activities;
  • Propose, accept and refuse an invitation;
  • Tell past events;
  • Talk about recent experiences or projects;
  • Describe somebody.

Prerequisite: A1 part 2 or Placement test.
Textbooks: Cosmopolite 1, Unit 4 + Lesson 1, 2, 4 of Unit 5.

A2 Intermediate

A2 Part 1 - Intermediate with Cosmopolite

Two classes of 3 hours a week

In this class, students will learn how to:

  • Tell past events;
  • Understand biographic information;
  • Give advices;
  • Understand and choose a trip to a francophone country;
  • Describe a city, a location;
  • Talk about the weather;
  • Express sensations and feelings.

Prerequisite: A1 part 3 or Placement test.
Textbooks: Cosmopolite 1, Lessons 3, 5, 6 of Unit 5 + Unit 6.

A2 Part 2 - Intermediate with Edito (previously Part 4)

Two classes of 3 hours a week

In this class, students will learn how to:

  • Describe and characterize someone.
  • Describe, rent accommodations;
  • Express disappointment;
  • Express condition and hypothesis (1);
  • Compare;
  • Compliment;

Prerequisite: A2 part 1 to 3 (with Cosmopolite or Edito) or Placement test.
Textbooks: Edito A2, Units 3 and 4.

A2 Part 2B - Intermediate with Cosmopolite

One class of 2 hours a week

In this class, students will learn how to:

  • Understand a menu in a restaurant and give your opinion;
  • Shop for groceries;
  • Talk about evolutions (then / now);
  • Shop for clothes;
  • Order food in a restaurant;
  • Choose an outfit;
  • Recommend a show;
  • Organise a soirée.

Prerequisite: A2 part 1 or Placement test.
Textbooks: Cosmopolite 1, Units 7 and 8.

Conversation A2 - Intermediate

Two classes of 2 hours a week
Our conversation lessons will allow students to develop steadily their communication skills. A2 intermediate level required.
B1 Independent

B1 Part 3 - Discovery with Edito

Intensive course

In this class, students will learn how to:

  • Express necessity (2) and obligation.
  • Describe a friendship or family relationship;
  • Tell past events (4);
  • React to a problem, offer and ask for help;
  • Express their feelings and disagreement (2);


Prerequisite: B1 Part 2 or Placement test.

Textbooks: EDITO B1, Unit 1 + unit 2.

Conversation B1 - Independent

Two classes of 2 hours a week
The student will learn how to make a speech (argue, convince, compare, justify...), introduce a subject, express themselves and give examples to illustrate what they are saying. Our conversation lessons will allow students to develop steadily their communication skills.
B1 independent level required.
B2 Advanced (with Cosmopolite)

Conversation B2 - Advanced

Two classes of 2 hours a week
This conversation class is reserved for students who have either completed their B1 Independent level, passed a Delf B1, or have been placed at this level after a placement test.
This level is a general B2 level with no textbook required.
C1 Autonomous & C1+ Expert

C1+ Expert (with Défi)

Two classes of 2 hours a week

From C1 Autonomous Part 1 to C1+ Expert:  Students are able to express themselves spontaneously and fluently in social, professional or academic situations without any apparent difficulty in finding the right words.
Books required to enroll (Cosmopolite 5, Edito C1, or Défi 5).
