ABOUT THE NIGHT OF IDEAS

The Night of Ideas is an evening of creative thinking, taking place in 200 cities and 100 countries in early February 2023.
A highly popular ‘world-wide festival of thought’, the Night of Ideas was initiated by Institut Français in Paris and is organized with international partners.
Night of Ideas 2023 is the 8
th edition of the event, and this year’s theme is More?. Speakers and performers will reflect on More? in all its aspects -  our consumer society, climate emergency, demographic inequities, performance improvements, augmented humanity....
The free event offers a creative and interactive evening to encourage participants and attendees to engage in a global debate on contemporary issues.

NIGHT OF IDEAS VANCOUVER | MORE? SLOW IS BEAUTIFUL

In Vancouver, we interpreted this year’s international theme "More?" on a temporal point of view, “Slow is beautiful”.
What is at stake in this search for speed, in this acceleration of our lifestyles? Questioning the logic of More?, the "Night of Ideas" in 2023 invites us to reflect on the models of "performance" and "growth" on which this logic is based, to think of innovation but also over-consumption and programmed obsolescence; and to look at both the local and global logics for global warming.
