Join VLACC, Alliance Française Vancouver and Curated Tastes for a special afternoon with

Gina Ortiz-Figueroa and her solo exhibition, I Contain Multitudes, From the Yukon to Patagonia. Developed
during a year of travel along the Pacific West Coast, Gina’s new body of work explores movement, memory, identity and change. Drawing on her

ourselves can coexist within a continually evolving sense of identity. In conversation with
Miret Rodríguez, founder of Curated Tastes, Gina will share her creative process and reflect on the
experiences and ideas behind the exhibition. Together, they will invite audiences to consider how art can open conversations about place,
cultural identity and the many influences we carry with us.The conversation will be primarily in English, with French and Spanish
woven in,
creating opportunities for audiences from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds to connect through art and shared
experiences.Afterward, stay for a relaxed reception with drinks, conversation and time to experience the exhibition at your own pace.

Miret Rodriguez is the creative director of Curated Tastes and is the former VP of VLACC and current member of its Programming Advisory Committee. She holds a BA in Art History from UBC and an MBA in art and culture management from the Superior School of Commerce in Paris. Through art and conversations with artists, Miret explores the complexities of cultural dislocation and hybrid identity. Since 2020, Miret has interviewed Latinx artists in Canada about their immigration stories and how they express their experiences through art. This led her to curate Volver (to return, to become) in 2022 at Cityscape Community Artspace in North Vancouver and lead many events under the same topics.a Ortiz is a Vancouver-based visual artist and illustrator originally from Monterrey, Mexico.
"This new body of work reflects on movement, change, and the accumulation of experience. Developed during a year of travel along the
Pacific West Coast, the work considers how we carry different places, memories, emotions, and versions of ourselves as we move through the
world. A recurring form becomes a point of departure for exploring what remains constant and what is continually shifting. Each iteration
holds something different, reflecting the contradictions and multiplicity that make up our sense of self. The works are not about arriving
at a fixed identity, but about allowing many experiences and emotions to coexist—sometimes in harmony, sometimes in tension. For me, I
Contain Multitudes
is an acknowledgment that identity is never singular. We are shaped by where we have been, what we carry with us, and what we continue to
become." - Gina Ortiz, Artist
- Gina Ortiz, Artiste
