L’Alliance Française Vancouver est heureuse de s’associer avec l'artiste Daphné Boyer pour une visite guidée
de son exposition "Li bootee mishiwayitay – The Beauty of it All".
Découvrez des oeuvres mêlant artisanat traditionnel des peuples métis, technologies numériques, matériaux végétaux et piquants de porc-épic.
À travers cette exposition, Daphné Boye rend hommage à son arrière-grand-mère, Éléanore, sage-femme itinérante à Red River ; à sa grand-mère
Clémence, interprète en michif, français et anglais qui a dissimulé ses origines autochtones pour protéger ses enfants ; et à sa mère
Anita, naturaliste autodidacte et archiviste familiale dont les récits et les recherches ont donné naissance à la célébration de
l’héritage métis par la génération suivante.

bootee mishiwayitay – The Beauty of it All.”
Discover
artworks that blend traditional Métis craftsmanship, digital technologies, plant materials, and porcupine quills.
Through tthis exhibition, Daphné Boyer pays tribute to her great-grandmother, Éléanore, a traveling midwife in Red River; to her grandmother
Clémence, an interpreter in Michif, French, and English who concealed her Indigenous origins to protect her children; and to her mother
Anita, a self-taught naturalist and family archivist whose stories and research gave rise to the celebration of Métis heritage by the next
generation.
À la fois artiste en arts visuels et phytologue, Daphné Boyer combine la matière végétale à l'artisanat traditionnel des femmes et à la
technologie numérique pour créer des oeuvres sur papier et textiles. Les oeuvres célèbrent son héritage autochtone ainsi que
les plantes en tant que base de la vie sur Terre.

Both a visual artist and a plant scientist, Daphné Boyer is known for combining plant material, porcupine quills, women’s
traditional handwork and high-resolution digital tools to create works that celebrate her Indigenous heritage and honour plants and
animals as kin.
