Celebrons Paul Plimley, l’un des pianistes bien-aimés de Vancouver !

Vancouver's music scene gathers to pay tribute to one of Canada's finest pianists and composers. One of Vancouver’s most beloved musicians, pianist Paul Plimley passed away in May of 2022. “With a stylistic range that recalls the explosiveness and tonal freedom of Cecil Taylor as well as the introspection of Paul Bley” (AllMusic), Plimley’s brand of embodied passionate, forward-thinking improv is much missed.

La scène musicale de Vancouver se réunit pour rendre hommage à l’un des meilleurs pianistes et compositeurs du Canada. L’un des musiciens bien-aimés de Vancouver, le pianiste Paul Plimley, nous a quitté en mai 2022. « Avec une gamme stylistique qui rappelle l’explosivité et la liberté tonale de Cecil Taylor ainsi que l’introspection de Paul Bley » (AllMusic), la marque d’improvisation passionnée et avant-gardiste incarnée par Plimley qui nous manque tant.

Some of Vancouver’s finest improvising musicians will pay tribute to the joyful tornado of sound that was Paul. Featured artists and NOW colleagues on the bill include Nikita Carter and Bruce Freedman, saxophones; Clyde Reed, bass; Brian Horswill and Lisa Cay Miller, piano; and Kenton Loewen, drums, plus other special guests. Like Paul, this concert will unpredictable, indescribable, energetic, and full of playful virtuosity.
