Come celebrate interculturality through a unique theatrical and dance experience, presented in partnership with the PuSh
International Performing Arts Festival and New Works.
Cette pièce solo mêle théâtre et danse, mettant en scène la performeuse Chi Long (d’origine vietnamienne, née en Australie et vivant maintenant au Canada) dans une autofiction qui entrelace des histoires vécues,
fictives et empruntées.
Créé par la chorégraphe Élodie Lombardo en collaboration avec Chi Long, il explore les mécanismes de construction et de
transmission identitaires, les souvenirs invisibles, nos identités composites et nos relations aux territoires, physiques ou imaginaires.
La pièce utilise l’intimité pour transcender et interroger une identité québécoise face aux enjeux migratoires et nous invite à reconsidérer chaque être dans sa singularité et son universalité, tout en réfléchissant sur la société à travers nos récits individuels et nos traumatismes collectifs.
This solo piece combines theater and dance, featuring performer Chi Long (of Vietnamese origin, born in Australia and now living in Canada) in an autofiction that intertwines lived, fictional, and borrowed stories. Created by choreographer Élodie Lombardo in collaboration with Chi Long, it explores the mechanisms of identity construction and transmission, invisible memories, our composite identities, and our relationships to territories, physical or imaginary.
Using intimacy to transcend it, the piece questions a Quebec identity in the face of migration issues and invites us to reconsider each
being in their singularity and universality, while reflecting on society through our individual stories and collective traumas.

There is in this performance of this remarkable interpreter a great technical quality, obviously forged by years of practice, and a game never surpassed or disembodied. She and the other(s) proves once again, in the world of Chestnut, that dance and theatre can marry admirably. "

La démarche artistique d’Élodie Lombardo (cie les sœurs Schmutt) est ancrée dans une théâtralisation de la danse, qu’elle développe à travers une dynamique interrelationnelle avec d’autres médiums (théâtre, musique live, vidéo et arts visuels). Ce faisant, elle favorise les connexions entre différentes disciplines, lieux, communautés, artistes et cultures, dans le but de créer des contextes de recherche uniques qui remettent en question l’identité et les relations humaines. L’esprit collaboratif et l’échange interculturel sont deux dimensions qui nourrissent et stimulent son travail chorégraphique.
The artistic approach of Élodie Lombardo (cie les soeurs Schmutt) is rooted in a theatricalization of dance, which she develops through an interrelational dynamic with other mediums (theatre, live music, video, and visual arts). In doing so, she fosters connections between different disciplines, locations, communities, artists, and cultures, with the goal of creating unique research contexts every time that question identity and human relationships. Collaborative spirit and intercultural exchange are two dimensions that nourish and stimulate her choreographic work.
Née en Australie de parents vietnamiens, Chi Long s’installe à Montréal en 1990 et se joint à la compagnie O Vertigo en 1991, puis devient membre de la Compagnie Marie Chouinard de 2002 à 2008. Interprète fondamentale dans le paysage de la danse à Montréal, Chi Long continue de se lancer dans des travaux en freelance avec de nombreux artistes et compagnies, plongeant avec audace et générosité dans des projets qui la poussent bien au-delà de sa zone de confort.
Born in Australia to Vietnamese parents, Chi Long moved to Montreal in 1990 and joined the O Vertigo company in 1991, later becoming a member of Compagnie Marie Chouinard from 2002 to 2008. A foundational performer in the Montreal dance landscape, Chi Long continues to venture into freelance work with numerous artists and companies, diving with boldness and generosity into projects that push her far beyond her comfort zone.
