L’Alliance Française Vancouver et l'Institut français du Canada, sont heureux d'accueillir l’illustratrice et autrice, Mirion Malle, dans le cadre d'une soirée rencontre et discussion.

Alliance Française Vancouver and Institut français Canada, in partnership with Comité FrancoQueer de l'Ouest, are pleased to welcome French multi-talented artist Ouissem Belgacem for an evening of discussion and conversation.

During this event, you will have the opportunity to attend the screening of the first episode of the documentary series, Adieu ma honte. This series, adapted from the book of the same name, is a poignant autobiographical account of Ouissem Belgacem, a child from the suburbs who was destined for a career as a professional soccer player at the highest level, before his homosexuality, contrary to his religion and his sport, precipitated his downfall.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the athlete and writer. It will be moderated by Loïc Million, lecturer and doctoral candidate in interdisciplinary studies at Simon Fraser University. 

Mirion Malle Author and illustrator
Mirion Malle est dessinatrice et autrice de bande dessinée. Titulaire d’un master de sociologie et d’études féministes, elle a également étudié la bande dessinée à l’ESA Saint-Luc (Bruxelles) et le cinéma à l’Université de Montréal. Elle est l’autrice de Commando Culotte (2016, Ankama) ainsi que de C’est comme ça que je disparais, Adieu triste amour et Clémence en colère (une trilogie remarquée aux éditions La ville brûle). Son dernier livre, Le problème avec les fantômes, paru aux éditions Glenat en 2025 raconte une histoire de deuil et d’amitié. Elle a vécu entre Paris, Bruxelles et Montréal et réside aujourd’hui en région parisienne.
Mirion Malle is an illustrator and comic book author. She holds a master’s degree in sociology and feminist studies and has also studied comics at ESA Saint-Luc (Brussels) and film at the University of Montreal. She is the author of Commando Culotte (2016, Ankama) as well as C’est comme ça que je disparais, Adieu triste amour, and Clémence en colère (a notable trilogy published by La ville brûle). Her latest book, Le problème avec les fantômes, published by Glenat in 2025, tells a story of grief and friendship. She has lived in Paris, Brussels, and Montreal and currently resides in the Paris region.

Loïc Million Chargé de cours
Loïc Million est chargé de cours et candidat au doctorat en études interdisciplinaires à l'Université Simon Fraser. Il s'intéresse, entre autres, aux cinémas francophones, aux médias visuels et aux théories de l'image dans une perspective queer. Ses travaux ont remporté plusieurs prix, notamment celui du Jeune Chercheur (CIEF, 2024) ainsi que celle de la meilleure présentation étudiante (ACECM, 2024).
Loïc Million is a lecturer and doctoral candidate in interdisciplinary studies at Simon Fraser University. His interests include French-language cinema, visual media, and image theory from a queer perspective. His work has won several awards, including the Young Researcher Award (CIEF, 2024) and the Best Student Presentation Award (ACECM, 2024).
