The Alliance Française Vancouver, in its desire to provide access to creative, cultural and educational activities in French or translated in French to Francophones and Francophiles in Vancouver, in particular youth, families and seniors, is launching the project “Il était une Fois Vancouver/Once upon a time Vancouver”.
Once Upon a Time Vancouver is a project of theatrical Storytelling that will be presented free of charge, once-a-month, to kids and families in Vancouver, British Columbia and elsewhere, from January to December 2022.
Each Storytelling time, lasting between 15 and 30 minutes, will be led by an artist or a duo of artists using any medium they wish - puppets, mime, music, objects, digital tools, etc. - around a theme celebrating the cultural diversity of Vancouver. Each project will be an original creation or an adaptation based on themes, literary works, tales or legends specific to British Columbia's minority communities.
Depending on health restrictions, the Storytelling time will be presented to a small audience, in an intimate setting, and will be filmed. The recording of the presentation will be edited for free access on the Alliance Française Vancouver's Youtube channel.
These monthly meetings will be an opportunity to honor celebrations such as National Indigenous Peoples Month, Black History Month, Chinese
New Year, Deepavali, Pride Month, etc.
