The Alliance Française is paying tribute to one of the most talented voices of French singer: Edith Piaf. During this wonderful event, you will discover her incredible life through a passionate documentary. Eléa Saunier will sing songs from this era, while you will enjoy a wonderful dinner prepared by our chef Roberto.

Edith Piaf
was one of the most popular female singers of all time, with a unique voice and talent that conquered the hearts of admirers around the world. Her life story was truly remarkable: from her birth in 1915 on a policeman's cape, under gaslight, to her extraordinary love affairs and heart-breaking tragedies, she was a true artist that lived to sing. The death of the 'little sparrow' in 1963 was mourned internationally.

Now, for the first time, her extraordinary life has been captured on DVD. Four years after her death a documentary was made by French television to commemorate her legacy. It captured a moment in history that can never be re-created with rare footage of her life, career, loves, and her funeral. With historic interviews and news reports of the time, it is a one-of-a-kind tribute to an unforgettable artist.

Éléa Saunier
is a young singer-songwriter artist based in British Columbia since 2011 and is in Grade 12 at Jules Verne school. Born in Reunion Island (fr) from musicians and travellers parents, Éléa has stepped in musical and creative world since childhood. She began writing her own songs at the age of 14 and has given many concerts and performances throughout her childhood and adolescence. Her first own show was in 2011 at the Cabaret Theatre du Vieux St-Jean (Quebec) with the help of several musician friends like Pascal Chaumont from the 2009 edition of Star Academy. It is the catch. Éléa’s career was launched!

Éléa then makes representations in Vancouver as the opening of Lisa Leblanc in November 2012 and her first ”Nouvelle Scène” with the assistance of the Centre Culturel Francophone de la Colombie-Britanique in March 2013. She performed in August 2013 at the Second Edition of Dîner en Blanc Vancouver and will be in competition in the Canadian show "Un air de famille"!
