In the Phantom Jungle, the deeper you listen, the more you lose your way. A slinky funk jam can dissolve without warning into an effects-heavy South American groove. Flutes and distorted drum machine loops collide with an analog synthesizer and Korean janggu drum. Multiple tongues drift through the polyrhythmic undergrowth, where genre boundaries are as hazy as an animal trail on a moonless night.

Vancouver’s Phantom Jungle represents an ever-evolving sonic dialogue between Alfredo Mangherini (Italy) and Nicholas Lagasse (Canada). By weaving together diverse international influences, they embody an idiosyncratic, mutant strain of World Music.
