Gilles recently retired from his last senior management position, where he was responsible for the construction of the $6-billion SkyTrain Surrey–Langley project, which will transform the region south of the Fraser River.
Throughout his career, Gilles led large-scale projects aimed at improving the way people work, travel, and communicate, as well as the movement of goods, while contributing to the restoration of local wildlife ecosystems.
Before joining Transportation Investment Corporation, Gilles worked in the high-tech sector (systems automation, telecommunications, etc.), and then at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, where he led strategic planning, supply chain improvement, environmental permitting, and physical infrastructure.
Gilles Assier holds an electrical engineering degree and a master's in management obtained in France. He has served as co-chair of a PAC, member of Richmond's economic advisory committee, and director of the Steveston cannery historical society.
Gilles and his wife Bonnie live in Steveston, where they fully enjoy the natural spaces the province has to offer. Their two adult children attended the Conseil scolaire francophone.
