Racine n’est pas un petit garçon comme les autres, personne n’a vu que dans sa tête une forêt avait poussé. Fuyant une grand-mère hostile et un quotidien angoissant, il court s’y réfugier. Et c’est dans une forêt envahissante, changeant au gré de ses émotions que le petit garçon va vivre les aventures les plus inattendues, dessinant petit à petit le chemin qui le mène à lui-même.  

Ici, l’univers des chorégraphes s’entremêle à l’imaginaire singulier de Mélusine Thiry, auteur, illustratrice et vidéaste. Le dispositif scénographique et les vidéos, permettent un voyage poétique entre images virtuelles et corps en mouvement, pour une immersion du spectateur dans un monde sensible et singulier.

Racine is not a little boy like the others; nobody saw that a forest had grown in his head. Fleeing from a hostile grandmother and a distressing daily life, he runs to take refuge there. And it is in an invasive forest, changing according to his emotions, that the little boy will live the most unexpected adventures, drawing the path that leads him to himself little by little.

Here, the universe of the choreographers intertwines with the singular imagination of Mélusine Thiry, author, illustrator, and video artist. The scenographic setup and the videos allow a poetic journey between virtual images and moving bodies to immerse the spectator in a sensitive and singular world.

Depuis plus de vingt ans, Christian et François Ben Aïm construisent une œuvre riche de poésie et d’exigence, de lien fraternel et de singularité.

A l’issue d’une formation pluridisciplinaire mêlant danse, théâtre physique et cirque, chacun suit son parcours d’interprète, puis les deux frères se retrouvent pour créer À l’abri du regard des hommes, avant d’aller mourir ailleurs, une pièce danse-théâtre qui marque le début de leur collaboration en 1997. Suivront une vingtaine de pièces qui s’ancrent autant dans leur travail de terrain qu’elles voyagent à l’international. Elles puisent leur inspiration dans des sources littéraires, musicales, picturales, combinant intimement les disciplines artistiques sur le plateau.

For more than twenty years, the Ben Aïm brothers, Christian and François, have developed a rich body of work abounding in poetry and high standards, interlaced with a brotherly bond and singularity.

In the wake of their cross-disciplinary training in dance, physical theatre and circus arts, each one followed their own career as performers. In 1997, the brothers joined forces to create À l’abri du regard des hommes, avant d’aller mourir ailleurs, a hybrid performance in dance and theatre, thus embarking on a partnership that would lead to some twenty original pieces, deeply rooted in their grassroots work while also being produced abroad.
