To celebrate its 115th year anniversary, the Alliance Française Vancouver invites Vancouver into a unique, artistic and immersive journey. A digital arts and virtual reality exhibition featuring 11 artworks and artists selected by RectoVRso, an international exhibition created in France.
XR technologies open a field of new possibilities for artists, new worlds to explore and new means to create unprecedented interaction with the audience. This exhibition questions the progress of these technologies at the threshold between artistic and scientific fields.

RectoVRso @Vancouver is organized by the Alliance Française of Vancouver with the support of Laval Virtual, the Cultural services of the French Embassy to Canada, the Consulate general of France in Vancouver, the Centre for Digital Media, Creative BC, the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF Immersed), the Institut Français and the Vancouver VR/AR Association.

Pour fêter ses 115 ans, l’Alliance Française de Vancouver, avec ses partenaires,   vous  invite  à vivre  un voyage artistique étonnant. Une exposition d'arts numériques et de réalité virtuelle comprenant 11 œuvres et regroupant des artistes sélectionnés par RectoVRso, une exposition internationale créée en France en 2018. Les technologies de réalité virtuelle et augmentées ouvrent de nouveaux champs des possibles pour les artistes. Cette exposition interroge les progrès de ces technologies aux frontières artistiques et scientifiques.

We are very pleased to welcome such an incredible international exhibition! To celebrate our 115 year anniversary, we wanted to offer something different to Vancouver, an outlook of what we want to bring to the city in our new cultural centre. Thanks to all our partners, this is happening. We were looking for common fields of excellence to Vancouver and France. Virtual and XR technologies are! Applied to art it changes the way we see artistic creation and allow us to invent new ways of expression. I invite you to visit this exhibition where you can watch, feel, experiment and even rediscover some very famous
pieces of arts!

Nous sommes très heureux d'accueillir une exposition internationale aussi incroyable! Pour fêter nos 115 ans, nous voulions offrir quelque chose de différent, un aperçu de ce que nous voulons apporter à Vancouver dans notre nouveau centre culturel. Merci à tous nos partenaires sans qui ce projet n'aurait pas été possible. Nous recherchions des domaines d’excellence communs à Vancouver et à la France. Les technologies de la Realité virtuelle et augmentée en sont un bel exemple! Appliquées à l'art, elles changent notre façon de voir la création artistique et nous permettent d'inventer de nouveaux moyens d'expression. Je vous invite à visiter cette exposition où vous pourrez regarder, ressentir, expérimenter et même redécouvrir des œuvres d'art très célèbres!

RectoVRso is a digital art festival that explores how virtual and mixed reality technologies can bring new artistic forms. Between reality and  virtuality, artists and researchers create works that question matter, illusions, the body, perception, immersion, interaction, relational aesthetics. It is a wonderful opportunity that is offered every year in Laval for these professional or emerging artists, and we are very happy to come to Vancouver to share an overview of this exhibition.  France and Vancouver have so much in common on the fields of virtual reality and digital art, and so much to discover and share. We look forward to it!                                                                                                                                

RectoVRso est un festival d'art numérique qui explore comment les technologies de la réalité virtuelle et mixte peuvent apporter de nouvelles formes artistiques. Entre le réel et le virtuel, artistes et chercheurs proposent des œuvres qui interrogent la matière, les illusions, le corps, la perception, l'immersion, l'interaction, l'esthétique relationnelle. C'est une merveilleuse opportunité qui s'offre chaque année à Laval pour ces artistes professionnels ou émergents, et nous sommes très heureux de venir à Vancouver partager un aperçu de cette exposition. Entre la France et Vancouver, nous avons tant de points communs dans  les domaines de la réalité virtuelle et de l'art numérique, et tant de choses à découvrir et partager.
