Monsieur vincent
—

On 29 July 1890, in Auvers-sur-Oise, the painter Vincent van Gogh took his own life. Marguerite, the daughter of his physician, Dr Gachet, had been one of his last models.

She remembers, and leads us in her wake through his palette of colours: in Provence, where he almost lost himself in his search for the “high yellow note”, the red and the green of the cafés… along the banks of the Rhône, where he said he saw the night more richly coloured than the day… In the fields of northern France, he worked with the pure colours of exaltation, of passion.

That July morning, Monsieur Vincent set out alone, his strength no doubt exhausted too soon.
