Currents is a live-action VR film crafted for the Apple Vision Pro, following Linh, a young woman leaving her rural home for the
relentless energy of Ho Chi Minh City. As she navigates the chaos of urban life, the film explores how rapidly growing cities reshape
identity, ambition, and connection - while also examining the human cost of progress. Blending traditional filmmaking with motion
capture, intricate animation, and an original score by Jake Oleson, Currents harnesses the Vision Pro's unprecedented fidelity to
immerse viewers in Linh's world as she breaks generations of farming tradition to carve out a future of her own in one of the
world's fastest-growing cities.

Jake Oleson
Jake
Oleson is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of film, music, and emerging technology. With roots in documentary and
commercial filmmaking, he’s built a body of work that’s both emotionally raw and visually arresting—earning recognition from Vimeo Staff
Picks, major brands, and international festivals. His storytelling often centers on inner transformation, guided by a deep sensitivity to
rhythm, tone, and the human spirit. In his mid-twenties, Jake turned inward, creating electronic music as a way to process grief and
recovery. His sound blends intricate, dreamlike design with melodic clarity—bringing the same emotional depth to his music that defines his
films. That synthesis led to a series of live audiovisual performances, where Jake began merging cinema, music, and real-time technology
into immersive narrative experiences. His recent work explores consciousness, memory, and identity through cutting-edge tools like NeRF
scans and Unreal Engine, creating hauntingly beautiful films and live shows for audiences and artists alike—from solo works like Given Again
to collaborations with RL Grime, Zayn Malik, and Kevin Peter He. Jake is based in Brooklyn, where he continues to explore new ways of
telling stories that feel both intimate and otherworldly.
