#Givingtuesdaynow | l'AFV & La BOUSSOLE | May 5, 2020

On May 5th 1904, the first francophone and anglophone settlers of the City of Vancouver came together to found Alliance Française Vancouver. They defined themselves as a social group unified through their common values of sharing, solidarity and community building.

116 years later, this community spirit is still very much alive in AFV. As we look back and reflect, we owe our success and longevity to the community of people, including many of you, who stood by us and helped us flourish. You have our thanks and gratitude.

Today, this community also shares a common crisis in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic. That's why, after a first participation in Giving Tuesday in 2019, Alliance Française Vancouver is joining  #GivingTuesdayNow,a day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5 2020 throughout the world.

Follow us until May 5...and beyond!

As a charitable organisation itself, AFV is proud to join the efforts of another charitable organisation, our partner LA BOUSSOLE, to ensure that no one is left behind in these difficult times.

That's why we want to support their initiative «LA BOUSSOLE MOBILE» created to meet La Boussole beneficiaries in order to provide them with basic necessities (food and hygienic products, masks and gloves).

LA BOUSSOLE current office space (312 Main, Vancouver) is closed. Their beneficiaries no longer have as easy access to the support they used to. This is why La Boussole has decided to provide these most distant beneficiaries with a mobile phone and a prepaid card. The will be able to join La Boussole in case of need and make an appointment with La Boussole Mobile to receive their essential goods.

To implement this exceptional and essential operation, La Boussole needs our support!

Donations will be used to:
     -
Rent a vehicle to meet the beneficiaries
     -
Buy sanitary equipment to prevent the spread of the virus and protect beneficiaries

If you donate
$50 today you allow them to rent a vehicle for a day!
A donation of
$100 will allow them to buy 25 KN95 masks for beneficiaries and frontline workers!
With
$250, you allow them to rent a vehicle for 5 days
