Craig Carlson was the last person anyone would expect to open the first American-style Diner in France. He came from a poor Polish-Finnish immigrant family in rural Connecticut, worked as a struggling screenwriter in Hollywood and knew nothing about starting a brand-new business. But from his first visit to Paris as an exchange student, Craig knew he had found the city of his dreams. But one thing was still missing – the good ol’ American breakfast he loved so much.

Pancakes in Paris is the story of Craig tackling the impossible – from raising the money to fund his dream to tracking down international suppliers for “exotic” American ingredients like crispy bacon and crunchy peanut butter... and even finding love along the way. His diner, Breakfast in America, is now a renowned destination for tourists and Parisians alike, and the story of how it came to be is just as delicious and satisfying as the classic breakfast that tops its menu.

Craig Carlson est la dernière personne qu’on aurait pu imaginer ouvrir le premier Diner américain en France : il vient d’une famille pauvre d’immigrants polonais-finois installée dans une région rural du Connecticut ; il a été scénariste à Hollywood et a travaillé dur sans vraiment percer ; bien plus encore, il n’a jamais dirigé sa propre entreprise et était loin de savoir comment monter un nouveau business.

Lors de sa première visite à Paris pour un échange universitaire, Craig a su immédiatement qu’il avait trouvé la ville de ses rêves. Une chose lui manquait cependant – ce bon petit-déjeuner américain qu’il aimait tant.

Pancakes in Paris est l’histoire de Craig faisant face à l’impossible – de la levée de fonds pour réaliser son rêve à la recherche de fournisseurs internationaux pour des ingrédients “exotiques” tels que du bacon croustillant ou du beurre de cacahuètes croquant....il finira même, en cours de route, par trouver l’amour. Son Diner, Breakfast in America, est maintenant une destination touristique connue des parisiens et son histoire est aussi délicieuse et rassasiante que le petit-déjeuner classique de son menu.
